About Kai Kens
Developed in the mountainous regions of Japan, the Kai Ken was bred as a hunting dog for tracking wild boar and deer. Their distinctive brindle coat and primitive features made them excellent hunters in challenging mountain terrain, earning them the nickname Tiger Dog.
Their short, dense coat requires minimal grooming but sheds seasonally. Kai Ken are independent and alert, known for their strong hunting instincts and loyalty to their families.
They are devoted to their families but can be reserved with strangers. Kai Ken need moderate exercise and excel at activities that engage their hunting instincts. While generally healthy, potential owners should be aware of hip dysplasia, eye conditions, and bloat that can affect the breed.
