About Great Pyreneess
Developed in the Pyrenees Mountains between France and Spain, the Great Pyrenees was bred over thousands of years to guard sheep from wolves and bears. Their thick white coat and massive build made them formidable protectors capable of working independently in harsh mountain conditions.
Their dense double coat requires regular brushing to prevent matting and sheds heavily during seasonal changes. Great Pyrenees are independent and protective, known for their nocturnal barking and strong guardian instincts.
They are devoted to their families but can be aggressive toward strangers and other animals if not properly socialised. Great Pyrenees need moderate exercise but excel at guardian work. While generally healthy, potential owners should be aware of hip dysplasia, bloat, and bone cancer that can affect giant breeds.
