About Poodles
The Poodle originated in Germany as a water retriever but was later refined in France, where it became the national dog. Available in three sizes (standard, miniature, and toy), Poodles were originally bred for retrieving waterfowl and later became popular as circus performers and companions.
All varieties have curly, dense coats that come in various solid colours including black, white, brown, and apricot. They're known for their intelligence, athleticism, and elegant appearance.
These dogs are highly intelligent, trainable, and make excellent family pets. They're known for their hypoallergenic coats and their versatility in various activities from obedience to agility. Their coats require regular professional grooming to maintain their appearance and prevent matting. While generally healthy, potential concerns include hip dysplasia, progressive retinal atrophy, and bloat in larger varieties. Early socialisation helps ensure they develop into well-adjusted, confident adults.
